Punjab Govt Should Focus on State Instead of Interfering in Sikh Affairs: Advocate Dhami

Amritsar, March 29, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has taken strict notice of the interference in Sikh affairs by the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab and advised the government to focus on improving the situation in the state while staying in its jurisdiction.

In a statement issued, Advocate Dhami strongly criticized the deliberate policy-based interference in Sikh affairs by the Punjab government’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains in the state legislative assembly.

He said that the Sikhs themselves know how to solve the community issues and the interference of the governments in Sikh affairs is a big challenge to the community’s sentiments.

He said that the government should focus on the welfare of the people of Punjab and improving the deteriorating situation in every sector of the state, staying within its sphere, and not distracting the people by interfering in Sikh affairs.

Advocate Dhami said that the people of Punjab are yearning for various facilities while the government representatives are going beyond their jurisdiction and interfering in the internal affairs of the Sikhs.

He said that if the Aam Aadmi Party government is so interested in Sikh issues, then it should resolve the issue of the Sikh prisoners, in which they have been resisting for ten years during their rule in Delhi.

He said that the release of Prof Devinderpal Singh Bhullar was in the hands of the Delhi government, towards which they deliberately maintained a negative attitude. He advised the Aam Aadmi Party Punjab government to remain confined to its jurisdiction and not interfere in the internal affairs of the Sikhs.
