Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Saturday lauded the announcements made for the horticulture sector in the State Budget and said the Punjab Government has prepared a special 10-year roadmap to further strengthen horticulture in the state. He said the initiative would provide fresh momentum to the horticulture sector.
The minister said that with the objective of promoting horticulture and enhancing farmers’ income in Punjab, projects worth around Rs 1,300 crore will be launched over the next 10 years with assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA. He said these projects aim to promote climate-resilient and high-value horticulture crops across the state.
Meanwhile, Bhagat also appreciated the provisions made for the welfare of women in the State Budget and said that financial assistance of Rs 1,000–1,500 per month under the ‘Mukh Mantri Mavan-Dhiyan Satikar Yojana’ would play a vital role in strengthening women economically.
Thanking Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, the Cabinet Minister Mr. Bhagat said the Budget presented by the Punjab Government is a significant step towards the overall development of the state, prosperity of farmers and empowerment of women.
He added that the announcements related to the development of the horticulture sector, enhancement of farmers’ income and welfare of women would give a new direction to the state’s progress. Bhagat expressed confidence that the Budget would play an important role in further strengthening Punjab economically.
