Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government, new employment opportunities are being created for the youth of the state. In a significant step towards this goal, the Punjab Transport Department has issued 154 stage carriage permits for the operation of mini-buses on rural link roads and other district roads during the year 2025.
These permits have been issued under Clause 3(e) of the Punjab Government-approved Transport Scheme and Section 5 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, the Transport Minister stated that these permits will empower unemployed youth to start their transport businesses, thereby accelerating self-employment and economic growth in Punjab.
This initiative aims to promote entrepreneurship among young individuals while strengthening connectivity between rural and urban areas.
The Transport Minister said that the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening the public transport system and providing better commuting facilities to the people. By issuing these permits, we are not only expanding transportation services but also enabling our youth to become self-reliant through employment.
He said that the government remains dedicated to the comprehensive development of the transport sector and will continue implementing initiatives that generate employment opportunities.”
