Punjab Govt and Electricity Department harassing its employees: Aman Arora

Chandigarh, November 21, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and MLA Aman Arora has urged Punjab Chief Minister, Charanjit Singh Channi led Congress government and the electricity department to immediately redress the demand regarding implementation of pay-band of employees working in electricity department in the state.

He said that the employees working in the electricity department who are efficiently managing the power supply in the agriculture sector, houses and industries, they been waiting for the implementation of the pay band for the last 10 years, but the Punjab government and the electricity department are constantly ignoring them.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Sunday, Aman Arora said that due to the policy of turning a blind eye towards the employees of the Punjab Government and the Electricity Department, the employees serving on the post of Lineman, Assistant Lineman, SSA, UDC and LDC from December 1, 2011, are eagerly waiting for the implementation of pay-bands.

Whereas in the year 2011, the revised pay band of electricians came and it was implemented on the posts above JE; but did not apply to the employees working on the post of Lineman, Assistant Lineman, SSA, UDC and LDC, and they are constantly being ignored.

Whether it was the Akali-BJP government in the state or the Captain Government or the present Charanjit Singh Channi government, no one took care of the electricity workers, he added.

Arora has demanded the Punjab government that even though the Channi government is making many so-called promises to the people given the 2022 assembly elections, the demands of the employees working in the electricity department are still waiting for these demands to be heard. He demanded that the Punjab government should immediately meet the demands made by these employees.

Aman Arora further said that whenever the electricity employees talk about pay bands and other demands, they are ignored by the government and the electricity department. Due to this, from November 15, 2021, all the employees went on mass leave for the first two days, but if the problem is not resolved, now all the electricity employees are on continuous leave till November 26.

There is resentment among the employees that if their problems (their rights) are not resolved, then they will intensify their protest by extending the period of their leave, for which the electricity department and Punjab government would be held responsible, he added.

Aman Arora warned that if the demands of these employees are not met then the Aam Aadmi Party will fight on a large scale with the electricity workers and force the Punjab government to give them their rights. The power department employees working in the state have submitted a memorandum to AAP MLA Aman Arora, demanding a solution to their problems.
