Punjab State Container & Warehousing Corporation (CONWARE) on Thursday donated Rs 1 Crore to Chief Minister Relief Fund to strengthen state government in its fight against Corona pandemic. With this CONWARE under chairmanship of Dwarka Das Arora, becomes the first PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) of the state to make a contribution of this magnitude to the CM Relief Fund.
“It was a unanimous decision as everyone including Managing Director Neelkanth Avhad, Additional Managing Director Yashanjit Singh and other Board of Directors were of the view that CONWARE should put the best foot forward to support state government under leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh in its fight in curtailing the spread of Corona pandemic,” Arora said asserting the state government, who is in dearth of resources should be supported by every Punjabi in this hour of distress.
It is worth mentioning that central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not yet provided Punjab with sufficient funds to fight Corona pandemic although several presentations regarding release of funds have been made by the state government.
“Punjab has to fight its own battle and we will win the war against Corona under the leadership of war veteran of the stature of Captain Amarinder Singh,” Arora said lauding the efforts of state government that has done a brilliant job in curtailing the pandemic. He added that Punjab was the first state that had pre-amped the affects of this pandemic as all government departments worked in tandem to save lakhs of precious lives.
Arora also said that CONWARE is well aware of its social responsibilities and continues serving society to the best of its resources in the time of distress.
He added that Captain Amarinder Singh took some bold decisions and then implemented them effectively. Punjab was among the first state to impose complete lockdown in the state that helped long way in curbing the spread of Corona virus. Arora said that these measures underline the vision and leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh. It is to be noted that Dwarka Das Arora took charge as Chairman of CONWARE in star studded ceremony in Chandigarh last month.
