Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was discharged from Fortis Hospital in Mohali on Thursday morning after undergoing treatment and medical observation for exhaustion and high blood pressure, officials confirmed.
The Chief Minister, who had been admitted to the hospital on February 15 after experiencing fatigue and elevated blood pressure, was kept under close medical supervision. Doctors had earlier stated that his condition was stable and his vital parameters were within normal limits.
CM to Attend Kila Raipur Rural Olympics
Soon after his discharge, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that Mann would resume his public engagements and travel to Kila Raipur to attend the renowned Rural Olympics. A party spokesperson said the Chief Minister was feeling well and had recovered after receiving appropriate medical care.
“He is perfectly fine now and will be attending the event at Kila Raipur as scheduled. The rest and treatment have helped him recover,” the spokesperson said.
Brief Discharge Earlier Followed by Readmission
Mann had briefly left the hospital on February 16 to attend an anti-drug campaign event in Moga. However, after addressing the gathering, he experienced fatigue again and returned to Fortis Hospital for further observation and care.
Sources had earlier indicated that he experienced a spike in blood pressure while in Dhuri, following which he was airlifted to Mohali in a government helicopter and admitted to the hospital.
Leaders Visit CM During Hospital Stay
AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia visited Mann at the hospital on Wednesday to inquire about his health. After the meeting, Sisodia said the Chief Minister was recovering well and expected to be discharged soon.
Medical authorities had maintained throughout that Mann’s condition remained stable and under control.
With his discharge, the Chief Minister is expected to gradually resume official duties and public engagements.
