Punjab BJP holds strategy meeting for 2027 Assembly polls, says Kewal Singh Dhillon

Chandigarh, August 9, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Kewal Singh Dhillon said on Sunday that the party has begun preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections, with a focus on strengthening its organisation and addressing key issues facing the state.

Dhillon said he held a meeting in New Delhi with BJP national President Nitin Nabin and Punjab in-charge Satish Poonia to discuss the party’s organisational roadmap and election strategy.

According to Dhillon, the meeting focused on issues including agriculture, youth, border security and urban development. He said the BJP would strengthen its teams at the district, mandal and village levels in the coming days, with the aim of delivering positive results in the Assembly polls.

The Punjab BJP chief said the party had also expanded its outreach on issues such as drugs, unemployment, law and order and the agrarian crisis. He said programmes were being organised in villages and cities to ensure that the benefits of Central government schemes reached people across Punjab.

Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Dhillon alleged that Punjab was facing a drug crisis, deteriorating law and order and increasing migration of young people abroad, while claiming that the state government had failed to provide concrete solutions.

He said the BJP was committed to making Punjab a “safe, prosperous, and progressive state” and was strengthening its organisation down to the booth level.

Dhillon also announced that the BJP would observe a “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign across Punjab from August 9 to 14 ahead of Independence Day. Tiranga Yatras will be organised in districts, cities and villages, with people being encouraged to hoist the national flag at their homes.

He further said the party was conducting a “Kalash Yatra” under the nationwide “Samarasta Sankalp Abhiyan” to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas Ji. The yatra, carrying sacred soil from the Guru’s birthplace, is travelling through villages, particularly in the Doaba region, to promote his teachings and social harmony.
