Marking a significant milestone in student-led agricultural innovation, Ms Seles Kaviya G, a Ph.D. scholar in the Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been selected for the Student Orientation Program (Idea Stage) of the Punjab Agri Business Incubator (PABI) under the RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.
Selected under the guidance of Dr Manmeet Kaur, the initiative aims to transform innovative student ideas into functional prototypes, products and viable agri-business ventures.
Ms Seles Kaviya G has been selected to establish her startup based on her Ph.D. research focusing on farm accounting systems.
Her proposed venture aims to develop a voice-based farm accounting mobile application designed to simplify financial record-keeping for farmers, thereby enhancing farm-level financial management. Under this programme, she will be receiving structured mentoring along with grant-in-aid support of Rs 4 lakh to develop and validate her innovative concepts.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr TS Riar, Additional Director Communication-cum-Principal Investigator (PABI); and Dr Vipan Rampal, Head, Department of Extension Education, congratulated Ms Seles Kaviya G and her advisor for this notable accomplishment and expressed confidence that the proposed innovation will contribute meaningfully to digital empowerment of farmers.
“This achievement reflects the successful translation of academic research into entrepreneurship and highlights the growing emphasis on technology-driven solutions for strengthening the agriculture sector,” said Dr Riar.
“It also reinforces PAU’s commitment to nurturing innovation, startup culture and student-led agri-enterprise development,” observed Dr Rampal.
