Pawan Tinu Appeals Prime Minister Modi to Resume Work of Adampur Flyover

Adampur, January 31, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Adampur constituency in-charge and Chairman of the Punjab State Agriculture Department Bank, Pawan Kumar Tinu, appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resume the long-pending work of the Adampur flyover. He said that since the Prime Minister is visiting Jalandhar on the occasion of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji’s Prakash Purab, he should announce the resumption of work on the stalled Adampur flyover.

Pawan Tinu said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has earlier visited flood-affected areas of Punjab, but no special relief package was given to the state. He expressed hope that during his visit to Jalandhar, the Prime Minister would seriously consider this important and people-centric project and take a concrete and positive decision.

He said that if the Prime Minister travels by road via Adampur, he himself will see how many difficulties common people face every day due to the incomplete flyover work. Moreover, if he travels by helicopter, he will clearly be able to see the nearly 70 pillars constructed for the flyover, which have been lying incomplete for years, standing testimony to the negligence and apathy of the central government.

Pawan Tinu stated that the construction of the Adampur flyover began in 2016, but in 2020, due to the weak policies and negligence of the previous Congress government, the work came to a complete halt. After the stoppage, the prices of cement and other construction materials increased significantly, due to which the contractor refused to continue the work.

He said that he repeatedly appealed to the central government to restart the flyover work. After this, the central government wrote a letter to the Punjab government, alleging a land acquisition scam. As a result, work on the project was completely stopped on 29 July 2025.

Pawan Tinu further stated that the very next day, on 30 July 2025, he, along with three Members of Parliament, met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

During this meeting, they strongly demanded the resumption of work on the Adampur flyover. He clearly stated that if a land acquisition scam had taken place in the Hoshiarpur area, why should the people of Jalandhar–Adampur be punished for it. He also demanded that the strictest possible action be taken against those responsible for stalled project.

He expressed regret that despite so much time having passed, work on this important project has still not been restarted, due to which people of the area are facing severe inconvenience.

Pawan Tinu said that this flyover is a crucial part of the Jalandhar–Hoshiarpur route and is essential for the economic, social, and industrial development of the region. The work required for widening the four-lane road in the Jalandhar area has almost been completed, but due to the shortage of land for road widening towards Hoshiarpur, the entire project remains stalled.

Emphasizing the strategic and social importance of Adampur, he said that it houses a major Indian Air Force base, from where significant operations related to national security are carried out. During Operation Sindoor, important security operations were also conducted from Adampur.

In addition, Adampur has a civil airport, which is used by a large number of people for air travel. Pilgrims going on religious journeys also use this route, and this road is a major link connecting Himachal Pradesh.

Pawan Tinu said that an incomplete flyover on such an important and busy route not only hampers development but also directly compromises the safety and convenience of the general public. He demanded that the central government should immediately restart the work on the Adampur flyover without any delay and complete it on a priority basis at the earliest, so that people can get relief from the problems they have been facing for years.

On this occasion, Doaba Media Secretary Atamprakash Singh Bablu and AAP leaders Tarndeep Singh Sunny, Satwinder Arora (President, Bazaar Mandal Adampur), Rakesh Agarwal, Davinder Suri (Trade Wing, AAP), Daljit Singh Minhas, Pankaj, Honey, Charanjit Sherry, Rakesh Kapoor, and Lakhvir Singh were present.
