Dr Kamal Vatta, Professor, Department of Economics and Sociology at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been conferred with the prestigious “ISAE Fellow Award” by the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics (ISAE) at its 84th Annual Conference in Karaikal, Puducherry. This recognition honored his lifetime contributions to agricultural economics, rural development, and his unwavering support in advancing the objectives of ISAE.
Nominated by Professor Ramesh Chand, Member of NITI Aayog, the award’s selection involved a rigorous evaluation by a jury of eminent economists. Highlighting Dr Vatta’s contributions, ISAE President Professor DK Marothia commended his efforts in shaping sustainable agricultural practices and fostering economic resilience.
Dr Vatta has spearheaded research in areas such as groundwater sustainability, rural livelihoods, and agricultural marketing innovations. With over 100 national and international publications and 34 research projects under his guidance, his work continues to address critical challenges in Indian agriculture, blending innovation with actionable policy recommendations.
Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research; and Dr JM Singh, Head, Department of Economics and Sociology, congratulated Dr Vatta for this rare accomplishment and acknowledged his remarkable contributions to agri-economics.
