PAU and TAFE sign MoU to establish Farm Machinery Learning Centre

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited, Chennai, for the establishment of PAU-TAFE Learning Centre (Advance Farm Machinery) in the University. Dr Rishi Pal Singh, PAU Registrar; and Dr Gaurav Sood, Senior Vice-President from TAFE, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, congratulated the TAFE for entering into collaboration with the University and said that the planned task will help the students in bolstering their manpower, thereby, making this interface a mutually beneficial one.

Dr Rishi Pal Singh said that both the organizations will benefit from the five-year pact.

Dr Gaurav Sood, Senior Vice President from TAFE, said that the PAU is a premier organization which has played a lead role in Green Revolution. The alumni of PAU have held significant positions in the industry and even in TAFE too, main positions were held by PAU alumni, he observed.

Dr Manjeet Singh, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, informed that this is the third MoU with the institutions, which will be beneficial for the students as they will get more exposure to the latest machinery and job opportunities.

Dr Mahesh Kumar Narang, Head, Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, said that the both organizations have come to an understanding to have a planned institution – industry interface.

Both will have regular institution – industry interface through visits and guest lectures of experienced faculty, scholars and professionals on specific subjects as per mutually agreed terms and conditions, he added.

Besides, focus will be on developing new matching farm equipment and technologies for the adoption through advance training of the extension functionaries and the farmers for enhancing production and productivity, he said.

Dr Vishal Bector, Associate Director (Institutional Linkages), said that this MoU will be a win-win situation for both the sides. The students and the farmers of the Punjab will get benefit from the latest machinery, developed by the TAFE and TAFE will also provide the training to the dealers and officials of their organizations, he added.

Mr Sanjay Vij, Head (Service); Mr Nitin Patil, Head (Sales); Er Vishal Mahly and Mr Gouri Shankar, Marketing Executive from TAFE, were also present at the MoU ceremony.
