Pastor Bajinder Singh awarded Life-Term in Rape Case

Mohali, April 1, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

A Mohali court has sentenced Pastor Bajinder Singh to life imprisonment in a 2018 rape case that has garnered significant public attention. The verdict, delivered on April 1, 2025, follows Singh’s conviction on March 28, 2025.

Singh, 42, the head of Glory and Wisdom Church, with locations in Tajpur (Jalandhar) and Majri (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), Punjab, was found guilty of rape and sexual misconduct. The court acquitted five other individuals who were co-accused in the case.

The victim’s counsel, Anil Sagar, confirmed the conviction, stating, “Bajinder Singh was found guilty under Section 376 and other sections, while the other accused were acquitted. Bajinder is convicted, and the quantum of the sentence has been pronounced on April 1.”

He has been awarded life sentence and will have to remain in jail till death, it has been learnt.

The victim’s complaint detailed a pattern of abuse beginning in September 2017. She alleged that Singh established a physical relationship with her under false pretenses and subsequently raped her multiple times. She further accused him of rendering her unconscious to create obscene videos and demanded substantial sums of money to prevent their public release. In April 2018, the Zirakpur police registered an FIR against Singh under Sections 354, 376, 323, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Singh, who gained prominence a decade ago with his “miracle services,” has faced numerous controversies. In 2022, a Delhi-based family accused him of fraud after he failed to cure their daughter despite receiving payment. More recently, on February 28, 2025, he was booked in Kapurthala for sexual harassment, stalking, and criminal intimidation based on a complaint from a former volunteer.
