Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab have taken up with the Chancellor of the University and Vice President Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Minister of Education Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan, appealing them to hold Panjab University Senate elections without any further delay.
Dr. Sahney explained that the tenure of elected Senate ended on 31st October, 2024 and even the Syndicate’s tenure expired on 31s December, 2024.
Dr. Sahney also said that as of today Panjab University is operating without a governing body and students of Panjab University have been protesting for over two months.
Dr. Sahney reiterated that structure of Panjab University where Punjab is a significant stakeholder should not be changed as already assured by the Minister of Education in the
Parliament on 3rd August, 2024.
