Panchayats should work hard to make villages clean, green and pollution-free so that a Rangla Punjab can be established by modernising the villages.
These words were expressed by Public Relations, School Education, Higher and Technical Education Minister Mr. Harjot Singh Bains while administrating oath to 3410 Panches of Rupnagar at Police Line Ground.
While speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Mr. Harjot Singh Bains said that Panchayats are known as the ‘pillars of democracy’ because they have immense power and their decisions are following by the entire village. He said that people of the state have given powers to Sarpanches and Panches, it is the primary duty of Panchayats to protect their interests and respect their wishes.
Mr. Harjot Singh Bains said that Sarpanches and Panches play a vital role in implementing the policies made by the state government at the grassroots level. It is imperative to further boost the pace of development and prosperity in villages, the Punjab Government is committed to the over all development and progress of villages and no stone will be left unturned for this noble cause.
On this occasion, Mr. Harjot Singh Bains also congratulated the 131 unanimously elected Panchayats.
Mr. Harjot Singh Bains said that newly elected Panchayats should work day and night to ensure the development of villages as the Punjab Government and the District Administration will fully support you.
Education Minister said that Punjab Government will provide all possible assistance and there will be no shortage of grants.
Cabinet Minister called for uprooting the scourge of drugs and asked the Panchayats to play an active role in this. Along with this, he also asked to motivate the people of the villages to take maximum benefit of schemes like Self Help Groups.
On this occasion, MLA Rupnagar, Advocate Dinesh Kumar Chadha told all the panchayats to forget the factionalism during the panchayat elections and work together for the development and welfare of the village by taking the villagers along.
He further said that there are many schemes of the state government from which panchayats can take advantage.
He said that apart from this, to make the villages clean, green and beautiful, we should plant maximum trees so that villages can make the state beautiful.
