Operation CASO: 600 Punjab Police Officials Carry Out Searches at 34 Places

As part of Punjab Government’s ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ campaign against drugs, the District Police on Saturday carried out search at 34 places under Cordon & Search Operations across district by deploying more than 600 police officials.

The entire operation was supervised by the Additional Director General of Police (Human Rights) Naresh Arora while SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik led the searches. The ADGP after inspecting the ongoing search in city area while interacting with media persons said on the directives of CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav operation CASO was being launched in the district where action would be initiated against drug peddlers.

Soliciting fulsome support and cooperation from people for this noble cause, ADGP Arora termed the drug menace a social problem, which could be contained with the unified efforts and collective responsibilities.

He also pointed out that people especially parents and teachers could play a vital role in eradicating the menace as well as motivating the youngsters towards sports so that their unbounded potential could be channelized in positive manner.

Under ongoing campaign, said ADGP, police is not only taking action against peddlers but also focusing on drug de-addiction and rehabilitation of addicts so they could lead a healthy life. The police teams today searched the drug hotspots besides checking those already facing NDPS cases and on bail.

SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that searches carried out at 34 places with lodging 6 FIR under NDPS and Excise Act. He said as many as 10 accused had been arrested with recovery of 270 gram heroine, 2060 intoxicant tablets, 78000 ML illicit liquor.

He reiterated that the battle against drugs would remain continue in future too so as to dealt the peddlers severly. He also informed that the District Police had already attached the property of peddlers worth over Rs. 25 crore during the previous time.
