Actress Nimrat Kaur on Friday paid a heartfelt tribute to her late father, Major Bhupender Singh, marking 32 years since his martyrdom while serving the nation.
Remembering him as a “self-made son of the soil” and a fearless soldier, Nimrat took to Instagram and shared that her father lived and laid down his life with unmatched courage and dignity.
“It’s been 32 years since Papa left us in service of the nation. A self made son of the soil, a peerless husband and father, and beyond everything, a lion-heart soldier who feared nothing, not even death we were told, in his final moments,” Nimrat wrote in the caption.
The actress shared a string of images and expressed gratitude to the Indian Army and the administration for immortalising his name in Ganganagar, where he was born, and in the Kashmir Valley, where he attained martyrdom.
“Forever grateful to the Indian Army and the administration to have immortalised Papa’s name on the soil he was born in Ganganagar and where he breathed his last in Kashmir valley.”
She added that she remembers her father more deeply on this day than ever and offered prayers for every soldier who has lost their life in the line of duty.
“His sacrifice, courage, values and grit live on in the memories of his brother soldiers and us all… “
Nimrat concluded by saying she feels honoured to always be known as Major Bhupender Singh’s daughter, carrying forward his legacy of courage and service.
“Remembering Papa more today than every other day and praying for every soldier who’s lost their lives in action… Honoured to always be known as Major Bhupender’s daughter,” she concluded.
Regarding the actress, Nimrat began her career as a print model and later transitioned to acting in theater. She starred in Anurag Kashyap’s production Peddlers in 2012. The actress followed it with her breakthrough role in the critically acclaimed drama The Lunchbox in 2014, starring the late Irrfan Khan.
In 2015, she played the recurring role of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agent Tasneem Qureishi in the fourth season of the American television series Homeland. She later reprised her role in its eighth season. She then starred in the American mystery series Wayward Pines and the Indian drama series School of Lies.
