Navjot Sidhu not involved in any brawl in jail – Harjot Bains talks of ‘legal action’ against Channels that carried the ‘story’

Chandigarh, July 13, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
Punjab Minister for Jails, Harjot Singh Bains has dismissed a news item carried in a section of media about former Punjab Pradesh Congress President and former Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and has warned of ‘legal action’ against those who carried the unsubstantiated news.

A section of the media reported about Sidhu’s brawl with some inmates who were lodged in the same barrack where Sidhu is putting up in the jail.

Terming the news item as ‘false’ and claiming that nothing like a ‘brawl’ took place, Harjot Bains said, ‘Legal notice will be sent to the channels who carried the news.’

It may be recalled that this afternoon it was reported in some sections of the media that Navjot Singh Sidhu had a brawl with some other prisoners living in his barracks. It was also reported that other prisoners had accused Sidhu of misbehavior. Although there was no confirmation of such a report from any official, it was reported that authorities shifted Sidhu to some other barrack. However, some other reports said that other prisoners were shifted out of the barrack following the brawl.

Seeking to clear the air, Minister for Jails Mr. Harjot Singh Bains came forward on the matter and clarified that there was no altercation between Sidhu and others in the jail. He said it was a minor issue that happened four days ago. “Every prisoner in the jail is issued a ration card and Sidhu said that one prisoner has used his card to get ration for himself,” he said.

Navjot Singh Sidhu is lodged in Patiala Central Jail after he was convicted and sentenced to one year’s imprisonment by Supreme Court in an old case of ‘Road Rage’ in Patiala.
