Nagar Kirtan dedicated to martyrdom day of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji organized from Akal Takht

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) decorated Nagar Kirtan from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal on the occasion of the martyrdom of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Guru.

Giani Jagtar Singh, head granthi of Sri Harmandar Sahib, after the ardas (prayer) enshrined Sri Guru Granth sahib in a golden palanquin decorated with flowers.

On this occasion, SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami, senior vice-president S. Raghujit Singh Virk, junior vice-president Principal Surinder Singh, general secretary S. Karnail Singh Panjoli and other prominent personalities were present.

Speaking on this occasion, SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji is unique in the history of the world.

“The Guru removed the fear from the minds of people all over the world by giving martyrdom for protection of the faith. The martyrdom of Guru Sahib is a source of inspiration for the Sikhs as well as for the entire humanity. He recalled the Sikhs who were martyred along with Guru Teg Bahadur Ji and said that it was a blessing of the Guru that the Sikhs who went with him also got martyrdom by keeping their faces towards the Guru”, said S. Harjinder Singh Dhami.

A large number of Sangat including Gatka and band parties also participated in the Nagar Kirtan. The decorated Nagar Kirtan from Sri Akal Takht Sahib was received with warmness by the Sangat at various places. The Nagar Kirtan followed the route from Sri Guru Ramdas Niwas, Chowk Pragdas, Chowk Manna Singh, Chowk Karori, Chowk Baba Sahib, Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai, Corridor, Gurdwara Kaulsar Sahib, Atta Mandi, Bazar Bansan, Bazar Papar, Bazar Katthian, and completed at Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal.

At the time of departure of Nagar Kirtan, SGPC executive committee members including S. Sarwan Singh Kular, S. Surjit Singh Garhi, S. Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, S. Balwinder Singh Vain Puin, S. Harjap Singh Sultanwind, S. Gurinderpal Singh Gora, S. Amarjit Singh Bandala, Bibi Gurpreet Kaur, and Baba Gurpreet Singh, SGPC members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta and S. Amarjit Singh Bhalaipur, Giani Malkit Singh head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, secretary S. Mahinder Singh Ahli, additional secretary S. Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, S. Partap Singh, OSD to the President of the Shiromani Committee. Satbir Singh Dhami, assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, S. Sakatar Singh, S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, S. Harjinder Singh Kaironwal, manager S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, superintendent S. Malkit Singh Bahirwal, manager S. Baghel Singh, S. Narinder Singh, additional manager S. Iqbal Singh Mukhi and others were present.
