MRSPTU Celebrates National Voters’ Day; First-Time Voters Honoured

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, celebrated National Voters’ Day in collaboration with My Bharat Kendra, Bathinda (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India), with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.

The programme was organized by Dr. Abhilasha, Coordinator, NSS, MRSPTU, along with Dr. Swati, with the aim of promoting electoral awareness, democratic values, and responsible civic participation among youth, especially first-time voters.

An expert lecture was delivered by Mr. Sarbjit Singh, District Officer, My Bharat Kendra, Bathinda, who highlighted the significance of voting in a democratic nation. He urged young citizens to actively participate in the electoral process and stressed the importance of informed decision-making, ethical voting practices, and the vital role of youth in strengthening democracy.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Abhilasha emphasized the relevance of National Voters’ Day in nurturing civic responsibility and empowering students as conscious citizens. Dr. Meenu, Ex-Coordinator, NSS, also shared her views on the role of educational institutions in motivating youth towards democratic engagement and active participation in elections.

A Voters’ Day Pledge was administered, wherein participants pledged to uphold the democratic values enshrined in the Constitution of India and to exercise their franchise responsibly, without fear or prejudice.

To recognize and encourage young voters, mementoes were presented to first-time voters, including Triptinder Singh and Mahipal Singh (Agriculture Department), Siddhant (CSE – AI & ML), and Arjun (CSE).

The programme concluded with a voters’ awareness rally within and around the university campus to inspire youth and spread awareness about the importance of voting and active participation in the democratic process.

The celebration successfully reinforced democratic values and motivated students to become informed, responsible, and active voters.
