Mohali MLA assure IT City plot allottees for early resolution; Kulwant Singh to take up matter with CM

Mohali, January 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A high-level delegation representing around 7,000 plot allottees from IT City sectors 82, 83A, and 66B today met Mohali MLA Sh. Kulwant Singh at the Aam Aadmi Party office in Sector 79.

The delegation, led by Sh. Nasib Singh, apprised the MLA of their grievances and highlighted the growing distress faced by the allottees due to repeated notices issued by GMADA and a steep hike in the enhancement fee.

The delegation informed that the enhancement charges have been increased drastically, with the revised enhancement for a 400 square yard plot amounting to nearly ₹32 lakh. They pointed out that most allottees had already taken substantial bank loans to purchase industrial plots in these sectors and are regularly paying EMIs.

The sudden and excessive enhancement, they said, has pushed them towards severe financial hardship, which is unjust and unacceptable.

The allottees questioned how they could afford huge burden when they are already struggling to meet their existing financial commitments.

Taking note of the concerns, MLA Sh. Kulwant Singh spoke to senior GMADA officials and assured the delegation of all possible support. He categorically stated that he would soon raise the matter with Punjab Chief Minister Sh. Bhagwant Singh Mann and the concerned departmental ministers to ensure a fair and effective resolution.

Speaking to the media, the MLA appealed to members of various Resident Welfare Associations of IT City not to resort to protests or demonstrations.

He appreciated the positive and cooperative approach adopted by the associations in addressing the issue and thanked them for their restraint. He assured that, after consultations with the Chief Minister and the concerned ministers, representatives of the associations would be personally invited and the matter would be resolved amicably.

The MLA further assured that the entire enhancement calculation would be re-examined by holding detailed discussions with GMADA officials. Referring to the relief earlier granted to residents of sectors 76 to 80, the delegation demanded similar relief for IT City allottees. Responding to this, Kulwant Singh said he would strongly take up this demand with the Chief Minister and the concerned ministers.

Appealing once again to the residents not to waste their time in protests, the MLA promised that within the next 5 to 10 days, a meeting would be convened with senior officials, after which the residents themselves would be called and informed about the concrete solution.
