In a distinctive and inspiring move, the district administration of Hoshiarpur conducted an innovative “Meeting on Wheels” on Tuesday to review the preparations for the upcoming Nagar Kirtan commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Malik led a joint civil and police administration team aboard a special bus that traversed the Nagar Kirtan route from Mukerian to Hoshiarpur, inspecting every detail along the way.
During the journey, the team carried out an on-ground review of key arrangements including route safety, cleanliness, power supply, langar facilities, and other civic amenities. The review aimed to ensure seamless coordination and readiness across all departments ahead of the grand religious procession.
The inspection team included Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbeer Kaur Bhullar, Assistant Commissioner Oishee Mandal, all SDMs, SPs, DSPs, and officers from various line departments. Conducting an on-site meeting while travelling together allowed officials to assess real-time challenges and devise immediate solutions, making this “Meeting on Wheels” a model of teamwork and efficient governance.
DC Aashika Jain informed that the historic Nagar Kirtan, which began from Srinagar, will enter Hoshiarpur district on November 21 via Pathankot. The procession will pass through Mukerian and Dasuya and reach Gurdwara Rampur Khera, where it will halt overnight.
On November 22, the Nagar Kirtan will proceed via Bhunga and Hariana to Hoshiarpur city, where the administration will offer a Guard of Honour as a mark of reverence. It will then continue its journey through Chabbewal, Mahilpur, Saila Khurd, and Garhshankar before heading towards Sri Anandpur Sahib.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that all departments have been instructed to maintain top standards in sanitation, lighting, drinking water, traffic management, and security along the route. Meetings with langar committees and local representatives are being held to fine-tune preparations and ensure that devotees face no inconvenience.
SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik added that the police department has devised a comprehensive plan to manage traffic and security during the Nagar Kirtan.
Adequate deployment of police personnel and surveillance arrangements will be made at all sensitive points. He said, “The ‘Meeting on Wheels’ exemplifies the synergy between civil and police administration, reflecting our collective commitment to celebrate this historic occasion with devotion, discipline, and grandeur.”
