Majithia demands institution of House Committee to look into torture of HR activists, insult to Sikh youth’s articles of faith

Chandigarh, March 5, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) legislator Bikram Singh Majithia today demanded the institution of a Vidhan Sabha committee to look into the physical and mental torture of youth activists in Haryana even as he demanded a resolution be passed condemning Delhi Jails minister Satyendra Jain for mistreating Sikh youth and becoming party to inflicting atrocities on them.

Taking up this issue during zero hour, Mr Bikram Majithia said it was outrageous that the Sonepat police had inflicted atrocities on human rights activists including Nodeep Kaur and Shiv Kumar. He said Nodeep had disclosed how both she and Shiv Kumar had been tortured by the Sonipat police and later also mistreated in jail in Delhi.

Mr Majithia also pointed out that the articles of faith of Sikh youth arrested in connection with the incidents of January 26 had been insulted in Tihar jail in Delhi which was under the AAP government and its minister Satyendra Jain was directly responsible for this. He said this was not all.

It is shocking that law officers of the Delhi governments Advocate General office opposed the bail applications of the youth. He said similarly the House Committee should also look into the barbarity inflicted on Sikh youth Ranjit Singh by the Delhi police.

Starting that all this heinous conduct on the part of the Haryana and AAP governments had hurt the sentiments of Punjabis, Mr Majithia said “it appears that they are following on the footsteps of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi”. He said the assembly would be failing in its duty if it did not register a strong protest on these issues.
