LPU’s physiotherapy students celebrate ‘World Physiotherapy Day 2024’

The Department of Physiotherapy at the School of Applied Medical Science, Lovely Professional University (LPU), celebrated the World Physiotherapy Day-2024 at Shri Baldev Raj Mittal Auditorium of the university.

Under the theme “Low back pain,” students were guided to understand the important role of physiotherapists in addressing this prevalent global issue, which is a significant leading cause of disability affecting millions worldwide. How they contribute to low back pain management, prevention, and rehabilitation.

Executive Dean Dr. Monica Gulati welcomed the LPU’s Director General Er HR Singla, esteemed guest Dr. Divita Arora, and Dr. Vishnu Gupta.

Renowned Physiotherapist Dr. Divita Arora shed light on the profound scope of physiotherapy during childbearing years, emphasizing its holistic care and support for women through preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum phases.

During the workshop session, she delved into the vast scope of physiotherapy in managing common musculoskeletal issues, enhancing maternal health, and promoting optimal recovery post-delivery.

Participants will explore evidence-based practices in prenatal exercise, pain management, pelvic floor rehabilitation, and postnatal care, empowering them to improve the quality of life for women during this significant period. Dr. Vishnu Gupta talked about the role of Physiotherapy in the ‘Low Back Pain’.

HOS Dr. Suresh Mani said every year, World Physiotherapy Day is observed globe over to generate awareness about the crucial contribution physiotherapists make to society.

Through evidence-based interventions, patient education, and personalised care plans, physiotherapy not only alleviates pain but also enhances mobility, promotes long-term recovery, and improves overall quality of life. We need to raise awareness about how physiotherapy can empower individuals to take control of their spinal health and live pain-free lives.

In an oath-taking ceremony students pledged to uphold the principles of physiotherapy, commit to ethical practice, and strive to make a positive impact on the well-being of those they serve. During the culture activities, LPU physiotherapy students also actively participated in sports, yoga, quizzes (based on the basics of physiotherapy), competitions, and fun activities.
