The Chief Hockey Coach appointed by the Punjab Government to further promote the game of Hockey, Punjab today visited Master Paramjit Singh Hockey Academy at village Takhanwadh in Moga district.
Olympian and Dronacharya Awardee Rajinder Singh (Junior) Chief Coach Hockey, Punjab after visiting Master Paramjit Singh Hockey Academy at village Takhanwadh today said that the academy has a large number of players up to the age of 16 and their parents. Appearing on the field is a sign of the golden future of hockey in Punjab.
Addressing the players, he said that after the installation of new astroturf by the Punjab government at Dhudike in Moga district, the players of these villages would be given the opportunity to play with renowned teams on astroturf and training would be imparted by the sports department.
He further said that the winning of bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics by the Indian hockey team and the entry of the women hockey team in the semi-finals has given a great impetus to the game of hockey in the country and especially in Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Secretary, Surjit Hockey Society said that now is the time for all of us to mobilize the game of hockey in the villages and aim for the future Olympic years 2028, 2032 and 2036. Let’s prepare now. He appealed to all the people and parents to work together for the betterment of hockey in the village and keep the game of hockey away from politics.
Speaking on the occasion, Avtar Singh, Coach, Surjit Hockey Academy, whose 11 players are currently playing in the Indian Olympic Hockey Medalist team, said that the key to success in sports is to play hockey as well as study. To keep He told the players that by working hard, staying in discipline and following the advice given by the Guru, he has achieved a high position.
Paramjit Singh Dala, Coach Jagjit Singh, EME, Master Parmjit singh sports club(NRI) Takhanwadh moga, Hockey member balkarn singh, Jagroop singh, Karmjit singh pardhan, Jagraj singh Hockey coach, Gurmit singh ,sandeep singh, School teacher principal Nirmal singh daudhar, vice principal parmpal singh butter, jagmohan singh takhanwadh, gurtaj singh dp takhanwadh, daljit singh Hockey coach, Parmjit singh dala ,kulwinder singh ,kaka Singh ,amarjit singh ,ravinder singh ,pal singh ,harpreet singh, Jagjit singh jagga eme Hockey coach, Gaganjit singh secretary Hockey club, Sarpanch ravi Sharma, kulwant singh, Gurmeet Singh, Davinder Singh were also present on the occasion.
