The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today felicitated Swami Shanta Nand ji, the head of Shri Swami Sant Das Ji Udasin Ashram Gopal Nagar, for rendering marvelous service to the humanity during relief operations carried out in the aftermath of floods.
The Deputy Commissioner today called on Swami Shanta Nand ji today afternoon at Ashram and handed over a certificate of appreciation to him by the district administration. Mr. Sharma recalled the stupendous services rendered by Ashram in the relief works carried out after the floods.
He said that the followers of Swami Shanta Nand ji were on the forefront to extend fulsome support and cooperation to the district administration in accomplishing the herculean task of giving a healing touch to the residents of the marooned villages.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the followers of the Ashram were amongst the first ones to reach the people with the relief material in form of water, food and other material required for their use.
He said that this helped a lot in bailing out the people of the inundated villages in the hour of crisis. Mr. Sharma said that the district administration and residents of the district would ever remain indebted to the Ashram for this service of humanity.
The Deputy Commissioner said despite of the vagaries of weather and hostile circumstances the followers of Ashram played a key role in the relief work thereby playing a major role in giving respite to the people.
He also lauded the services rendered by Ashram in general and Swami ji in particular for imparting quality education to the people. Mr. Sharma said that the certification of appreciation was a humble recognition of the selfless services rendered by Ashram and Swami ji to the humanity.
On the occasion, Swami Ram Dass, Baba Charan Dass, Retired DPRO Mr. Sant Kumar Juneja, Mr. Gurbaksh Singh, Mr. Gurcharan Singh, Mr. KK Makkar, Mr. Gurdeep Singh Kalra and others were also present.
