Jalandhar DC, CP & SSP review arrangements for function to observe International Day against Drug Abuse

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal today said that the district level function being organized today (June 26) to observe International Day against Drug abuse would act as catalyst to make Jalandhar a drug free district.

Chairing a meeting with the officers of district Police and Civil Administration, the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police reviewed the arrangements for the mega event being organized at the District Red Cross Bhawan.

The officers also fine tuned the strategy for giving final blow to the menace of drugs from Jalandhar by renewing the anti-drug campaign with full vigour from today (June 26) being observed as International Day against drug abuse across the globe.

It was decided in the meeting that during the district level function being organised to mark the day at Red Cross Bhawan major emphasis would be laid on making Jalandhar completely a drug free district.

The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police said that the function would be instrumental in sensitizing all the stakeholders for making vigorous efforts to ensure that the district was free from the scourge of drugs.

They said that major emphasis would be on further strengthening the Drug Abuse Prevention Officer (DAPO) and Buddy campaign to make sure that people were made a part of this mass campaign. The officers also said that no stone would be left unturned for this noble cause so that more and more people were made aware of this campaign.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioners of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh and Mr. PBS Parmar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Sachin Gupta, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr Paramveer Singh, Mr Amit Kumar Panchal, Mr Rajesh Sharma and Ms Charumita, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Amandeep Brar, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Chawla, District Education Officer Mr Harinderpal Singh, Deputy District Education Officer Mr Anil Awasthi, Mr Surjit Lal and others were also present.
