Jalandhar DC & CP solicit support and cooperation of Peace Committee for maintaining communal harmony

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today solicited fulsome support of peace committee for strengthening the ethos of peace, brotherhood and communal harmony in district.

Chairing a meeting of peace committee members here at District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that recent developments at national and international level have been posing a huge challenge for the peaceful atmosphere in the district.

He said that all of us should make concerted efforts for upholding the peace and communal harmony in district at every cost. Seeking wholehearted support from members of the peace committee for strengthening the social fabric in district, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that we all are the citizen of one country and there must not be any kind of major difference at any point.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that there was absolute normalcy in the district but still wider community involvement was the need of the hour.

They said that this involvement of the masses could do wonders by reposing the faith of people amongst each other. The officers said that people must refrain from getting swayed away by the rumours or the false propaganda on social media and said that strict action against those spreading false rumours.

The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that communal or casteist tensions were not at all good for society. They said that so all-out efforts must be made for reducing any such tension amongst the society.

The officers said that the members of this committee from various strata of society will help the administration to promote communal harmony, peace and brotherhood in the district. They hoped that the peace committee would always play a vanguard role to further strengthen the ethos of mutual trust and love in society.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Balkar Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr Jai Inder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr Jaspreet Singh and others.

Peace committee members Mr Gursharan Singh, Mr Ramesh Chohka, Mr Amrit Khosla, Mr Raj Kumar Raju, Mr Sudesh Vij, Mr Mohammed Kaleem Azaad, Diwan Amit Arora, Mr Harpal Singh Chadha, Mr Lal Chand, Mr Jagjit Singh Ghaba, Mr Shahid Hassan, Mr Rajinder Singh Rehal, Mr Sanawar Bhatti and others lauded the initiative of the district administration for convening this meeting to maintain law and order in the city.
