Jalandhar DC, CP and SSP announce to make elaborate security arrangements for 379 vulnerable polling booths

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal today said that the district administration would make elaborate security arrangements for 379 vulnerable polling booths in the district.

Presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements here at the District Administrative complex, the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police said that the district administration has completed the vulnerability mapping of the district as per which 379 polling booths out of 1863 polling booths have been identified as vulnerable. They said that special care would be taken to man the vulnerable polling booths across the district. The officers said that for ensuring free, fair and transparent polls on these booths Punjab Police along with the para-military force would be deployed to cover these booths.

Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police said that on some booths micro observers would be deployed adding that on the remaining booths webcasting would be ensured on the directions of the Election Commission. They said that the district administration would ensure that these vulnerable booths were either covered by the Para Military force, webcasting or micro observers. The officers said that the primary motive of all these steps was to ensure that people could participate in this democratic process without any sort of fear or pressure.

The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police said that the district administration was making every effort to ensure that each and every polling booth of the assembly segment was provided adequate checks and balances for ensuring free and fair polling. Reiterating the firm commitment of the district administration to hold ensuring Lok Sabha polls peacefully, the they said that anyone trying to disturb peace during the general elections would be dealt strictly as per the law. They said that no one would be allowed to take law in its own hand during the elections.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Paramvir Singh, Mr. Amit Kumar Panchal, Ms. Charumita, Mr. Sanjiv Sharma and Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ms. Aashika Jain, Secretary Regional Transport Authority Dr. Nayan Jassal, Tehsildar Elections Mr. Manjit Singh and others were also present.
