Jalandhar CP Gurpreet Bhullar urges people to wear masks for their safety from COVID

Urging the people to wear masks for their safety from Covid-19 pandemic, The Commissionerate of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that people must act responsibly and adhere to all health protocols to keep the Covid at bay.

The Commissioner of Police said that the drive against those defying the directives of Punjab Government is already being intensified and stated that under the ‘Mission Fateh’ initiated by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Commissionerate Police have so far imposed a fine of Rs 1.31 Crore on the 27707 people who were found venturing out without masks since March 23.

He said that a fine worth Rs 85,000 has been imposed so far for 45 violations of home quarantine instructions adding that 452 persons have been fined Rs 115600 for spitting in public place.

The Commissioner of Police said that a total of 50984 challans have been issued so far to the traffic violators and 2276 vehicles have been impounded.

Mr Bhullar further said that fine worth Rs 137000 has been imposed on overloaded 71 four wheelers, Rs 17000 on overloaded 34 Autos and fine worth Rs 445000 has been imposed on 220 for violating social distancing norms.

He said that today, 168 traffic challans were issued. He said that today 219 persons without mask were challaned and a fine worth Rs 109500 was imposed on them.

The Commissioner of Police said that this drive would continue in the coming days and action would be taken against the violators adding that the people have to play a vital role for further checking the spread of COVID 19.

He appealed to the people to wear masks mandatory and follow the directives of the government to supress the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
