Jakhar lambasts Akali leadership for politicising Batala murder incident

Chandigarh, November 24, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)
The ruling Congress in Punjab will organise protests at block level across the state on November 25 over the “anti-people policies” of the Narendra Modi government.

This will be in the final phase of the stir launched by the party early that had earlier organised protest at district headquarters this month on the issues relating to price rise, denial of jobs that the NDA had promised to youth, recession in industry etc.

PPCC president Sunil Jakhar has exhorted party workers to ensure sufficient participation at the dharna (sit-in) to be staged on Monday. He said that demonetisation had triggered recession across the country. A common man now can’t afford to purchase a kg of onions or tomatoes even that were considered essential commodity for kitchen.

Industries have been forced by the situation to go for shut down atleast two days in each week. Number of educated unemployed youths was sky rocketing and creating frustration among them. The Central Government was not releasing GST share to Punjab and other states to create financial disorders.

Speaking about the murder of two-time sarpanch Dalbir Singh Dhilwan in Batala police district area, PPCC president said it was highly condemnable. None can be allowed to take law into his hands. A case under section 302 IPC and the Arms Act had been registered against seven people. Preliminary investigation had ruled out any political hand in the incident.

But, Jakhar said that, it was unfortunate that Akali Dal leaders were trying hard to take political mileage even on such crime. SAD had lost faith and moral support of masses in Punjab; its leaders were battling on wrong footings to recapture the ground by raising false issues.

SAD led past government had come under fire on Bargari sacrilege incident that was referred to CBI to save its skin. They (Akalis) also referred the drug issue that haunted party leadership to Enforcement Directorate. Justice Mehtab Singh Commission had to deal with 4500 false cases that were registered allegedly on the behest of Akalis across the state.

Their clandestine moves stood exposed at all levels. And, now they were conspiring revival on flimsy grounds, Jakhar added. He firmly believes that people will no more be misled by Akali Dal top brass that had deceived the masses during decade-long regime.
