Some individuals achieve remarkable success at a young age through sheer determination, dedication, and willpower. One such inspiring story is that of Vidushi Singh, who cleared the UPSC exam on her first attempt at the age of 21, earning a spot in the prestigious Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
Vidushi was born and raised in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, although her family roots trace back to Ayodhya.
After completing her BA Honors in Economics from the esteemed Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, in 2021, she began preparing for the UPSC exam. Remarkably, Vidushi chose the path of self-study instead of enrolling in coaching classes, and managing her preparations alongside her college studies.

During her undergraduate years, Vidushi laid a strong foundation by studying NCERT textbooks and other essential reference materials. This groundwork proved invaluable, as she successfully cleared the UPSC exam on her first attempt, securing an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 13. She opted for economics as her optional subject.
Despite her top rank, Vidushi chose to join the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) over the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), fulfilling a dream that her grandparents held dearly.
In an interview, she shared that becoming a government officer in the IFS was a long-cherished aspiration of her grandparents, which greatly influenced her decision.
When asked about her success mantra, Vidushi emphasized the importance of self-study and practice. She credited her success to the numerous test series and mock exams she undertook, which helped her refine her strategy. She firmly believes that self-study is the key to success and that external coaching was not necessary for her achievement.
