The NSS Unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education observed Anti-Ragging Week by organising a series of activities aimed at creating awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and promoting a culture of respect, cooperation and peaceful coexistence among students.
The week began with an oath-taking ceremony in which student-teachers pledged not to engage in ragging or any form of violent behaviour. They also resolved neither to tolerate ragging nor allow themselves or others to be subjected to violence.
Under the theme “Education Empowers, Ragging Devours”, poster-making and slogan-writing competitions were conducted on the second and third days of the programme. NSS volunteers also staged dramatic enactments highlighting the prohibition, prevention and punishment associated with ragging.
Documentary films highlighting the adverse impact of ragging were screened for students and faculty members during the week. The films were selected from resources available on the UGC’s anti-ragging platforms.
Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that although the college had never reported any such malpractice, creating awareness about humanity, mutual respect, cooperation and peace among young people remained important.
NSS Programme Officer Tarunjyoti Kaur said that every year, new students and their parents are guided to complete the online anti-ragging undertaking form in accordance with UGC recommendations.
Certificates were presented to all students who participated in the various activities organised during the week.
