BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today said that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s so-called “naya Pakistan” has become hell for the Hindus and the Sikhs minorities where their families live under fear and terror while their religious places are vandalised frequently.
Reacting to a recent incident in which the Krishna Dwara Mandir in Teri village in the northwestern town of Karak was vandalised, Chugh sought intervention of the Union External Affairs ministry to take up the matter seriously with the Pakistan government to punish the people responsible for it.
He said some 1,500 people had reportedly participated in the attack on the temple which indicated that it was planned on a very high scale.
“It is a matter of shame for the Imran Khan government which has failed to [protect the minorities. Is it the kind of “Naya Pakistan” that Imran Khan had promised?, he wondered.
Chugh recalled how a 17-year old Sikh girl, daughter of was Pritam Singh, head granthi of historic Panja Sahib Gurdwara in Hassan Abdal city, was reportedly kidnapped and converted to Islam in Pakistan last year..
He said according to some reports, as many as 55 Sikh girls were kidnapped and forcefully married in the last about one year in Pakistan.
“It is an alarming situation for the minorities for which even the Human Rights wing of the United Nations had also castigated the Pakistan government,” he added urging the External Affairs ministry to take a strong note of this trend in Pakistan and work out a strategy for the protection of the Hindus and the Sikhs in Pakistan.
