I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) is set to organize a one day conference on Punjabi language and artificial intelligence on 22nd March 2024 at its Main Campus Kapurthala.
The conference has been planned considering the urgent need of enabling the Punjabi language for artificial intelligence. It is learnt that artificial intelligence (AI) can work in many languages but the Punjabi language is not one of them.
The event has been planned to brainstorm upon the matter and create awareness among Punjabis to initiate efforts in the direction to strengthen the language in the AI arena so that the latest techno-linguistic advancements include Punjabi also.
The conference is being organized in association with Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (BBS), New Delhi. BBS has been established with a sole objective of promoting Indian Languages. The mandate of the samiti is to explore and recommend pathways of the holistic and multi-disciplinary growth of Indian languages as envisaged in NEP-2020.
“It is the first conference on this subject in the entire Punjab and it shall be an excellent platform to hold discussions on the actions required to be taken for building Punjabi supported by artificial intelligence” said the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Susheel Mittal.
“The conference is open for everyone who loves or desires to promote mother language Punjabi. We give an open invitation to faculty from various colleges and schools, students, parents or language lovers to attend conferences through registration” said the Registrar Dr S K Misra.
To attend the conference one can login University website www.ptu.ac.in and register as attendee. Panelists from the field of technology and Punjabi language shall share their views and elaborate upon the tasks to be undertaken in this direction.
