IKGPTU Organizes Seminar on ‘Stress Management While Studying’

A seminar on the topic of “Stress Management while Studying” was organized at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) main campus. This event was organized in collaboration with Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Kapurthala. Renowned speaker Dr. E. V. Swaminathan participated as the main speaker.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, participated in this program as Chief Guest held at the university main campus. Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla led the program. This initiative was jointly taken by the Academic Department of the University and the Student Welfare Department.

Upon reaching the university, the main speaker Dr. E. V. Swaminathan and his team were welcomed by Dean Academic Prof (Dr) Vikas Chawla and faculty members. Dean Academic Dr. Chawla introduced the guests to the university and shared a welcome message. University Registrar Dr. S.K. Misra congratulated the event organizing team through his message.

Subject expert Dr. Swaminathan said that stress is a common problem that students feel during their studies. It can also be due to difficulties, pressure or anxiety about the future. Dr. Swaminathan said that in today’s rapidly changing era, the stress of study is increasing on students.

Due to the increasing influence of exams, homework and modern technology, stress has become a big problem among students. Stress not only hinders studies but also has a serious impact on psychological and physical well-being.

Students should make a planned study schedule and maintain a balance of rest and entertainment along with studies. He advised to keep the mind calm by doing yoga and meditation for 10 to 15 minutes daily. He said that this reduces stress. Dr. Swaminathan gave many examples through a PPT and informed the students about how to stay stress-free.

On the occasion of the program, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal said that stress is a common challenge, but it can be managed with the right approach and self-control. Students need to plan their studies, study in the timetable and move forward with confidence.

Students should prepare a clear outline for their studies, which can save them from excessive stress. By making a long-term plan, there will be no stress before the exams. He motivated the university staff to continuously conduct such awareness-raising seminars. He said that this increases the morale of the students and inspires them to stay away from social vices.

At the end of the program, subject expert Dr. Swaminathan told the students about focusing on the positive side through meditation. University officials, faculty, staff and students participated in the program.
