The Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) in collaboration with the University of Tulsa, USA organised the 16th Annual IFIP WG 11.9 International Conference on Digital Forensics in New Delhi from January 6 – 8, 2020.
The keynote lectures were delivered by experts such as Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Rajesh Pant, National Cyber Security Coordinator (NSCS), National Security Council Secretariat on “Digital Forensics in India”; Sanjay Bahl, Director General, CERT-In on “Digital Forensics – The Way Forward”; and Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Director and Scientist E, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on “The Future of Digital Forensic Ecosystem”.
Talking about the overall proceedings of the conference, Dr. Gaurav Gupta, General Chair of the conference and Additional Director/ Scientist ‘E’ at Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) said “work presented in the conference will help solve cases faster thus reducing pendency’s of cases and will strengthen the digital forensic ecosystem.
He highlighted that research and development of newer methodologies is the only way forward to tackle the menace of computer frauds and cyber crimes in this never-ending cat and mouse race. He aspired to see India become world leader in development of digital forensic solutions and services and presented a road map to achieve this dream.
Dr. Somitra Kr Sanadhya, the Organizing Chair of the conference and Associate Professor and HoD, Dept. of CSE, IIT Ropar chaired a session on Themes and Issues on day one of the conference.
It has been decided that digital forensic workshop will be held on Januaty 4-5, 2021 in India to disseminate the participants with practical knowledge of new metholdies and tools in the domain of Digital Forensics.
