IAS Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal releases Harpreet Sandhu’s Heritage Film ‘Moorish Mosque’

In a landmark effort to preserve the rich culture and heritage of the monuments showcasing the history, today the Commissioner, Jalandhar Division Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, IAS today released documentary film and pictorial brochure titled “Moorish Mosque.” portraying Architectural Marvel and brief background of the significant heritage location “Moorish Mosque” in Jalandhar during an event.

The documentary film and pictorial brochure is curated by Punjab’s renowned Author, Heritage Promoter, and Nature Artist, Harpreet Sandhu, Advocate with aim to promote Punjab’s diverse and inclusive culture, brought to the forefront through the creative lens of Harpreet Sandhu, capturing the beauty and legacy of the monument.

The documentary aims to spread awareness among the people of Punjab, especially the younger generation, about the importance of preserving cultural landmarks that form the backbone of the region’s historical identity.

This film highlights heritage monument Moorish Mosque, which is inspired by the Grand Mosque of Marrakesh, commissioned by Maharaja Jagatjit Singh and stands as an enduring testament to Punjab’s historical ties with global culture and architectural excellence.

Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal, IAS Commissioner, Jalandhar Division, after having the preview of the documentary film acknowledged the efforts of Harpreet Sandhu for his dedication and meticulous work in compiling the pictorial art and showcasing the grandeur of this heritage site.

The Commissioner stated, “Harpreet Sandhu’s vision and commitment to preserving Punjab’s cultural assets through his artistic expression have made a significant contribution in highlighting the historic importance of the Moorish Mosque situated in Kapurthala.

The pictorial brochure is not just a visual documentation, but a reminder regarding depth of our heritage and a step to promote this hidden heritage gem on the land of Punjab having marvelous ambience.

This documentary film will serve as a valuable resource for historians, students, and cultural enthusiasts, fostering a sense of pride in Punjab’s rich legacy.

Film director nature artist Harpreet Sandhu, Advocate said his passion for photography of heritage sites encouraged him to make short Documentary film on Moorish Mosque.

“After having the first glance of this mosque, he felt like being in Marrakesh, Morocco, as the architecture of the mosque is patterned on the similar lines of Grand Mosque of Morocco,” He further stated that this was an initiative towards highlighting this lesser known heritage location of Punjab tourism situated in Kapurthala and attracting visitors to have glimpse of the rich heritage of Punjab.

The film has been dedicated to World Tourism Day highlighting the theme “Tourism & Peace” raising awareness regarding importance of tourism within society, culture, the economy, and the environment. This day emphasizes the cultural interchange, and economic development that comes from travel.
