In pursuance of the drive against drugs and illicit liquor initiated across the state on directions of DGP Dinkar Gupta, the Hoshiarpur police got Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) conducted throughout the district to comb off the drug smugglers from the district. Under the search took place in different areas, the police teams recovered illicit liquor, heroine, intoxicant powder and 9.4 lakh drug money from the accused.
SSP Navjot Singh Mahal, who was personally supervising this drive, said that CASO operations were conducted in village Chak Routa of Garhshankar, village Harta, village Jalota of Dasuya, village Sandpur of Talwara, village Ghasitpur Tooran of Hajipur. Similarly in urban areas also hotspots were identified and CASO operation was conducted in Valmiki Mohalla of Hoshiarpur and Chandigarh colony of Tanda.
Mahal further stated that 39 persons were apprehended during the operation while 8 cases were registered under NDPS act and Excise Act. The police teams recovered 2,07,000 ml illicit liquor, 185 gm heroin, 286gm intoxicant powder , during the operation. Drug money of INR 9.4 lakh, 4 vehicles which include 2 XUVs, one i20, one Honda city have been recovered from the accused persons.
Navjot Singh Mahal also pointed out that these kinds of surprise operations will continue in future also to eradicate the menace of illicit drugs and illicit liquor. He has also appealed public to come forward to inform police about such wrongdoings in their surroundings so that police can take immediate action against such anti-social elements.
The accused arrested by the police have been identified as Narinder Kumar @Ninder s/o Chak Routa, Vikas @ Vicky of Binewal, Garhshankar, Balwinder Singh of Chabbewal, Saurav Kumar and Bickram @ Bicky both resident of Balmiki Mohalla, Hoshiarpur.
