Haryana Vigilance nabs two Police officials accepting bribes

Two teams of State Vigilance Bureau (SVB), Haryana today arrested two police officials red handed while accepting bribe worth Rs. 2 lakh and Rs 4000 respectively. Both the officials have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Sharing more details in this regard, a spokesperson of Bureau said that the first case is related to Sirsa district, wherein the SVB team had caught Sub Inspector (SI) Ajay Kumar, Incharge CIA, Dabwali while accepting bribe of Rs. 2 lakh from complainant Sukhbir Singh resident of Sector-20, Sirsa.

The spokesperson said that complainant Sh. Sukhbir Singh had approached the Bureau alleging that his father aged about 75 years was undergoing imprisonment of 10 years under NDPS Act and was on Parole. He could not return to Jail in time due to illness and COVID-19 Pandemic, as such, a case under Parole Act was registered against him.

The said CIA Incharge was demanding bribe of Rs. 2 lakh in lieu of not arresting his father in this case. He said CIA Incharge was also threatening them that if the demand is not fulfilled, he will also arrest the family members for giving shelter to the accused, said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson said that complainant further told that the said CIA Incharge is continuously demanding the bribe through mobile phone and he has recorded all these calls and then the complainant had requested SVB to take legal action against the CIA Incharge Ajay Kumar.

The Vigilance Bureau acted promptly on the complaint and a case under Section 7 PC Act has been registered in the Police Station SVB, Hisar. A team headed by DSP Kailash Chand has been constituted, who arrested the said CIA Incharge Ajay Kumar in the presence of Duty Magistrate Sh. Gurdev Singh, Tehsildar, Sirsa, while accepting bribe of Rs. 2 lakh from the complainant, said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson further said that in another case, Sub Inspector Jeet Ram of Police Station Bhattu Kalan, Fatehabad district has been apprehended by the Vigilance Bureau while accepting bribe of Rs. 4,000 from complainant Sh. Sehdev resident of Village Ban Mandori.

He said that the complainant informed the Bureau that he had an accident with his Alto car on June 7, 2021. The said Sub Inspector threatened him and demanded Rs. 10,000 for not registering the Criminal case in the matter. Later, he agreed to pay Rs. 7,000 for this and Rs. 4,000 was to be paid today.

On the basis of this information, a case under Section 7 PC Act has been registered in the Police Station SVB, Hisar. A team headed by DSP Rakesh Kumar has been constituted, who arrested the said CIA Incharge Ajay Kumar in the presence of Duty Magistrate Sh. Rajesh Garg, Nayab Tehsildar, Fatehabad, while accepting bribe of Rs. 4,000 from the complainant, said the spokesperson.

Both the cases are under investigation. The accused are being interrogated thoroughly, added the spokesperson.
