Furthermore, there have also been reductions in cases of murder, offenses under the POCSO Act, vehicle thefts, and kidnappings. This achievement reflects the positive results of Haryana Police’s effective action plan.

Breaking the Nexus of Criminals with STF: Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur stated that an effective action plan is being implemented to curb crime in Haryana. Eight teams of the Special Task Force (STF) have been formed to keep a strict vigil on criminal activities and break the nexus of criminals in the state.

From January 1, 2024, to August 7, 2024, the STF successfully apprehended 121 most wanted criminals, 36 gangsters/gang members, and 264 criminals involved in serious offenses. Similarly, crime units have been established in the districts for crime control, operating under the guidance of senior officials as per the situation.

Naka Bandi, Checking, and Operation Akraman: To maintain law and order, 53 SWAT teams have been prepared. Checkpoints are set up at various locations at night to monitor suspicious and criminal activities, with thorough checks conducted on vehicles.

Operations like Operation Akraman are launched periodically to dismantle criminal activities. In 2024, police teams registered 2,743 FIRs and arrested 4,768 criminals under Operation Akraman, involving 7,957 police teams.

Priority on Women’s Safety, Selection of Hotspots and Hot Routes: Kapur mentioned that necessary steps are being taken for women’s safety. To provide a safe environment for women, 2,153 hotspot areas and 292 hot routes have been identified where incidents of eve-teasing are more likely to occur. Special police duties have been assigned in these areas and routes for swift action against offenders.

Haryana Police has also introduced a trip monitoring service to ensure the safety of women traveling alone. Women can register themselves on Haryana-112, and their journey will be monitored until they reach their destination safely.

Training and Sensitization Programs for Women Police Officers: Haryana Police has trained four women police officers in each district for women and child safety. These officers conduct sensitization programs in schools and colleges, educating women and children about good touch and bad touch, as well as their fundamental rights.

Sports Activities to Keep Children Away from Crime and Drugs: To keep children away from crime and drugs, sports activities are organized in rural and urban areas. Large-scale sports competitions are held periodically for these players, and information about recruitment processes in the police and other services is provided to the youth to encourage them to prepare and apply for competitive exams.

Gram and Ward Praharies: Gram and Ward Praharies have been directed to monitor criminal activities in rural and urban areas.

Additionally, actions are taken against those who engage in hooliganism and harass people unnecessarily. The Haryana Police also monitors social media platforms for posts by gangsters, keeping a close watch on those who like or share such posts.

Performance Evaluation Forms to Promote Healthy Competition among Policemen: Kapur said that performance evaluation forms have been introduced to promote healthy competition among police officers.

These forms set standards for enhancing police efficiency, and decisions related to ACRs and other important matters are based on performance evaluations. Regular review meetings with district and senior officials are held to ensure better law and order.

He emphasized that Haryana Police is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for the residents of the state. The police are working with a zero-tolerance policy against criminal activities, and necessary steps are being taken to enhance police efficiency to prepare action plans according to evolving crime patterns.
