Ludhiana, February 22, 2026(Yes Punjab News)
Former District Congress Committee Ludhiana (Urban) President and Ex-Chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, Pawan Dewan, has come down heavily on Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, condemning what he termed as “petty vote-bank politics.”
Referring to Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini’s frequent visits to Punjab with the sole aim of garnering votes for the BJP ahead of the 2027 elections, Dewan said that if Saini really cares for Punjab, then instead of holding rallies and programmes, his party should have focused on solving the state’s real problems.
Dewan pointed out that Punjab needs the clearance of pending central grants, a relief package for its struggling industries and concrete steps to revive the agrarian economy. “These issues, not political shows, will decide the future of Punjab”, he said, in a statement issued, here today.
Citing Saini’s address at Purvanchal Samman Rally in Ludhiana today as a mark of honour to migrants as nothing but “mere optics”, Dewan said, “If the BJP had shown even a fraction of genuine concern for migrants, Ludhiana’s once-thriving industry would not be gasping for survival. When the industrial backbone itself is crumbling, its labour force—predominantly migrants—inevitably suffers.” Taking a dig at the saffron party, he said, “Instead of addressing the structural failures and economic distress, Saini is attempting to mask the BJP’s shortcomings by staging rallies and programmes under the guise of migrant recognition.”
Dewan asserted that the step-motherly treatment meted out to Punjab is glaringly evident, with the NDA government failing to disburse crucial central grants—most notably the Rural Development Fund (RDF), a lifeline for Punjab’s agrarian and rural economy. “The deliberate withholding of such vital resources not only cripples development but also exposes the Centre’s indifference towards Punjab’s needs”, he added.
Dewan also accused Saini of blindly defending the Narendra Modi government, even as the grim reality remains that ordinary citizens are struggling to secure even three meals a day.
“Now, in the midst of these circumstances, Saini has begun staging rallies in Punjab, pretending to share the people’s concerns. In reality, he is shedding crocodile tears for petty politics. But no matter how loud the theatrics, the truth cannot be concealed”, concluded Dewan.
