Gurkirat Kotli listens to delegation of Leather Federation to further boost Leather Industry in Punjab

An innovative meeting was held under Chair of Hon’ble Industry & Commerce Minister, Punjab, Gurkirat Singh with a delegation from Punjab Leather Federation to boost up the leather industry in the State.

Atul Kumar Mishra, Regional Director Council for Leather Exports from New Delhi represented the delegation led by Hira Lal Verma, President Punjab Leather Federation, Deepak Chawla, Sr. Vice President, Sanjay Verma Secretary and Stiven, Chief Advisor.

Delegation who the other day had an informative meeting with Industry & Commerce Minister, Punjab, Gurkirat Singh along with Chairman Punjab Infotech Harpreet Sandhu, Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce Tejveer Singh, IAS, Director Industries & Commerce C Sibin, IAS and other officials at Udyog Bhawan, Chandigarh, wherein the delegation appraised the genuine problems being faced by the leather industry in Jalandhar for past several years and also put forward their demands enabling to revive Leather industry in Punjab.

President Punjab Leather Federation Hira Lal Verma, during his interaction stated that this meeting is the outcome of the personal visit of Industries and Commerce Minister, Punjab and Chairman Punjab Infotech to the Leather Complex in Jalandhar, last month wherein the business prospects of the Leather Industry were appraised by the members of Leather Industry Federation. He further stated it’s for the first time that the grievances of the Leather industry has been sympathetically heard by the Industries department Punjab.

The delegates appreciated the sincere efforts of Industry Minister to have the vision to listen the genuine problems of leather federation units based in Jalandhar.

Industries Minister Gurkirat along with Chairman Infotech Harpreet Sandhu, Principal Secretary Industry Tejvir Singh and Director Industry Sibin C., urged the delegation to dispose of all the tanneries waste in proper manner and said that spillage of uncontrolled tanneries effluents in natural water resources can’t be tolerated at any cost.

Hon’ble Industry Minister, assured that instant steps will be initiated to resolve the concerns raised by the delegation from Punjab Leather Federation, for the betterment of the Leather Industry in the state.
