GoI Approves 2 Projects at Khatkar Kalan and Hussainiwala to Honor Martyrs: Ravneet Bittu

The Government of India has approved two significant development projects in Punjab, aimed at honoring the sacrifices of the Shaheeds at Khatkar Kalan and Hussainiwala.

Ravneet Singh, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji and Sh. Gajendra Shekhawat ji, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, for their support.

Giving brief about the projects, S Ravneet singh said the two projects, titled “Cultural and Heritage Stretch, A Symbol of Peace and Harmony at Hussainiwala Border” and “Heritage Street as a Tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan, SBS Nagar,” are designed as fitting tributes to the martyrs.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Government of India, has recognized Ferozepur (Hussainiwala Border) as a key destination for development under the culture and heritage category.

Following collaboration with the state government, the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee has approved the “Cultural and Heritage Stretch, A Symbol of Peace and Harmony at Hussainiwala Border” project with an investment of ₹24.99 crores.

This initiative aims to preserve the historical and cultural legacy of the area, commemorating the sacrifices of freedom fighters like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru, and Shaheed Sukhdev.

Ravneet Singh further elaborated on the second project, which will develop a “Heritage Street” at Khatkar Kalan, SBS Nagar, as a tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.

As part of the Government of India’s initiative to develop iconic tourist centers on a global scale, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has approved a budget of ₹53.45 crores for this project.
