Facebook and Fortis Health to organize Session on Mental Health issues faced by Journalists

Facebook and Fortis Health in association with The Vox Foundation will be organizing a special session on Mental Health issues faced by working Journalists on May 28, 2022, at Chandigarh. The venue will be Hotel Novotel, Industrial Area Phase 1, Chandigarh.

This session, a collaboration between the Meta Journalism Project India and Fortis Healthcare in association with The Vox Foundation will give you insights and tips on how to manage your mental health and help other colleagues and friends who may be suffering. We will share resources for ongoing support and offer a safe space to share your experiences.

Why this session?

The work of a journalist can have a big impact on their mental health:

* Dealing with graphic digital images and videos online,
* Being at the scene of a traumatic event,
* Facing tight deadlines under great pressure

The main speakers will be Dr. Samir Parikh an eminent Psychiatrist and Ms. Kamna Chhibber Heads Mental Health for the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences at Fortis Healthcare.

Dr. Samir Parikh is an eminent Psychiatrist working in the field of mental health over the past two decades. He is the Director of the Fortis National Mental Health Program at Fortis Healthcare. Under his guidance and leadership, the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences at Fortis Healthcare works to provide comprehensive mental health services.

It runs specialized programs for schools, NGOs, and corporate organizations as well as within the community. He has been a speaker at various national and international forums on mental health issues. Dr. Parikh has conducted various studies that have been published in the media that have helped the community get an insight into mental health issues. Dr. Parikh is a known author of books.

He is a TEDx speaker, having conducted numerous such talks. Dr. Parikh also has a very prominent presence in the media. He has played a key role in enhancing the image of mental health in the country and his views are widely appreciated by people. He is amongst the most well-known experts in the country on mental health issues.

Kamna Chhibber Heads Mental Health for the Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences at Fortis Healthcare. She is a trained therapist working with children, adolescents, and adults. She is passionate about working in the space of child-adolescent mental health, relationships, trauma, and abuse.

She designs and creates programs for implementation in schools, corporate organizations, and NGOs that are directed toward enhancing mental health and well-being. She is a writer and author of books and is regularly featured in publications on issues pertaining to mental health and is a TEDx speaker. She has played a significant role in enhancing the awareness and understanding pertaining to mental health within the country and is a well-known expert on issues relating to mental health.

Independent journalist Pamposh Raina will moderate the session. This is the first time that this type of brainstorming session would be held in this Capital City for media persons.
