The Poultry Farmers Welfare Association (Punjab) has voiced serious concern over the circulation of misinformation regarding eggs, stating that such unfounded claims are creating confusion among consumers and harming the poultry sector.
Addressing the issue, Advocate Robin Pal Singh, Executive Core Committee Member of the Poultry Farmers Welfare Association (Punjab) and Executive Member of the Poultry Federation of India, said that false and misleading narratives about eggs are being widely propagated without any factual basis.
He emphasized that eggs are a natural, wholesome, and nutritionally rich food, serving as an important source of high-quality protein, along with essential vitamins and minerals.
Robin Pal Singh stated that the spread of rumours is not only misleading the general public but is also adversely impacting poultry farmers, whose livelihoods depend on consumer confidence.
He pointed out that eggs are consumed globally and are routinely recommended by doctors and nutrition experts as part of a balanced diet.
He further clarified that the poultry sector operates under prescribed standards and regulatory frameworks, and that strict quality checks are conducted before eggs reach consumers.
Expressing concern over the atmosphere of fear being created, Robin Pal Singh said that unverified information is unnecessarily alarming people.
He appealed to the public to disregard rumours and rely solely on scientifically verified information.
He also urged media organisations to ensure responsible, fact-based reporting to prevent confusion and misinformation among the public.
Highlighting the economic significance of the sector, Robin Pal Singh noted that the poultry industry provides employment to a large number of people, and that sustained negative propaganda directly threatens the livelihood of farmers.
He reaffirmed that the Poultry Farmers Welfare Association remains committed to ensuring the supply of safe and high-quality eggs to consumers.
