Senior Congress leader Shri Dwarka Das Arora took over as Chairman of Punjab State Container & Warehousing Corporation, (CONWARE) in Chandigarh on Friday. CONWARE is the leading Public Sector Undertaking of Punjab government that plays a key role in providing container and storage services to leading importers and exporters of the region at Mumbai, Kandla and other crucial sea and dry ports of the country.
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had cleared Shri Arora’s name as chairman of CONWARE last week, who took charge of office in the presence of leading ministers from Punjab cabinet; Mr Vijay Inder Singla, Mr Sunder Sham Arora, Mr Om Prakash Soni and Mr Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi.
Expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister and AICC in charge of the state Ms Asha Kumari, Mr Arora said that he would leave no stone unturned to put Punjab industry back on track.
CONWARE plays a prominent role in deciding the tariff and delivery of the key products to the state. He added that the PSU will coordinate with the central procurement agencies for smooth upliftment and movement of perishable products.
It is to be noted that central agencies including Food Corporation of India are not lifting the food grains like wheat, paddy and cotton timely which is hitting the interests of both the farm sector and industries.
Mr Arora vowed to establish proper mechanism to ensure swift transportation of cargo including finished products manufactured by Punjab based industries at competitive prices. This, he said will not only provide respite to the traders but also reduce prices for the end consumers.
Galaxy of Congress leaders including Mr. Tajinder Singh Bittu chairman of Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation (PunSup), Mr. Raj Kumar Verka chairman Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC), Mr. Dinesh Bassi chairman Amritsar Improvement Trust, Mr Inderbir Bolaria MLA Amritsar South, Mr Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia MLA Shahkot, Mr Sushil Kumar Rinku MLA Jalandhar East, Mr Karamjit Singh Rintu Mayor Amritsar were present at the occasion.
Deputy Advocate General of Punjab Ramandeep Pratap Singh and prominent Congress leaders, Mr. Maninder Pal Singh Palasour, Mr Rachit Bansal, Mr Rajbir Bhullar, Mr Vajir Chand, Arun Joshi, Mr Ashwini Sharma and Mr Harinder Pal Singh also graced the event.
