Security agencies recovered a drone, two .30-bore pistols and 50 live cartridges during a joint search operation near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Guruharsahai area on Wednesday.
The recovery was made by the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the BSF’s 50 Battalion near BOP Rana Panj Grain. The seized consignment included a DJI Mavic quadcopter, two pistols, four magazines and 50 live rounds.
According to information, the operation was launched around 4 am following specific intelligence inputs. The weapons and ammunition were found packed in two separate packets at a location approximately 60 metres from the international border fencing.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the consignment may have been dropped on the Indian side from Pakistan using a drone. Security agencies have launched an investigation to establish the source of the weapons and identify their intended recipients.
Searches were also being conducted in the surrounding area to rule out the possibility of additional consignments.
