Musical genius Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as Rockstar DSP, celebrates his birthday today. The National Award-winning music composer has had an illustrious career, where he effortlessly made the nation groove to his hits, earning him the moniker of ‘Rockstar’.
On his birthday, here’s taking a look at some of his timeless compositions aka gems that continue to resonate with his fans.
Dhinka Chika from Ready
When Arya’s track ‘Ringa Ringa’ was being adapted for Salman Khan-starrer ‘Ready’, no one imagined that DSP would be able to repeat the success with a remake.
But ‘Dhinka Chika’ became a rage, and continues to be celebrated among the masses even today.
Oo Antava from Pushpa: The Rise
‘Oo Antava’ and ‘Saami Saami’ from the Allu Arjun-starrer took the world by storm! The songs became a chartbuster across the globe with it being played at international concerts/arenas.
‘Oo Antava’ was a perfect proof of why DSP is hailed as one of the most talented pan India composers.
Angaaron from Pushpa 2
DSP unveiled two compositions from ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, and both of them – ‘Angaaron’ and ‘Pushpa Pushpa’ – have been making the nation groove to it.
Ammadu Let’s Do Kummudu from Khaidi No 150
DSP delivered an irresistible dance number with ‘Ammadu Let’s Do Kummudu’, which was a perfect treat for every Chiranjeevi’s fans, who were waiting with bated breath for the actor to take over the screens with his graceful moves.
Akalesthey from Shankar Dada Zindabad
DSP had once said that he thinks of dance first to compose music for any of his projects, and that is exactly what he did with this track. We bet you cannot not dance on this peppy track!
For the unversed, DSP recreated this song for Hindi film ‘Bhaag Johnny’.
Aa Ante Amalapuram from Arya
Rockstar DSP blended traditional Andhra folk elements to create ‘Aa Ante Amalapuram’, which emerged as a chart-topping sensation at the time of its release. The song was later recreated for a Hindi film.
Swing Zara from Jai Lava Kusa
With ‘Swing Zara’, DSP delivered a song that perfectly blended dance, music and sensuality. Tamannaah Bhatia and Jr NTR’s dance moves took this song a notch up.
Pillaa from Gabbar Singh
With ‘Pilla’, which continues to be one of the most trending and celebrated songs by Rockstar DSP, the composer proved that he can blend romance with energetic beats to craft a heartfelt yet groovy track.
Apart from the above-mentioned tracks, DSP delivered timeless music in films such as ‘Bommarillu’, ‘Manmadhudu’, ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’, ‘Varsham’ and others.
And now, the singer-composer, who won the National Award for ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, is set to exude his musical prowess in his upcoming films, which include ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’, Ajith’s ‘Good Bad Ugly’, Naga Chaitanya’s ‘Thandel’, and Dhanush’s ‘Kubera’.
The music composer will also be kickstarting his India Tour from October onwards.
