Death Threat to Arshdeep Kaler; SAD Delegation Meets Arpit Shukla, Demands Action

Chandigarh, March 27, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

A senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) delegation met DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla and demanded strict action as per law against Mandi Board chief engineer Jatinder Singh Bhangu for threatening to murder the party’s chief spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kler.

The delegation, comprising Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and Hira Singh Gabhria besides the complainant Arshdeep Kler, apprised the DGP that the Mandi Board chief engineer had rung up Kler and abused him besides asserting that he had murdered fifty persons and that four more remained to be killed with Kler becoming the fifth addition to his hit list. Earlier the SAD had registered its complaint with DGP Gaurav Yadav also.

Explaining the entire incident to the DGP, Kler said he had participated in a debate on party president Balwinder Singh Bhundar’s plea for panthic unity today. He said during the course of the debate he had pointed out to Akali rebel Charanjit Singh Brar that the latter’s group was constantly holding meetings and hatching conspiracies against the SAD in the office of the Punjab Mandi Board in Chandigarh.

Kler said immediately after the debate Jatinder Bhangu rang him and while referring to himself as Dibrugarh detainee Amritpal Singh’s “man”, said he would kill Kler in case he ever again referred to any such meetings being held in the Mandi Board. “He also asked me to narrate this to former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal”.

Briefing the DGP, senior leaders Maheshinder Grewal and Dr Daljit Cheema also asked the former to probe the role of Mr Charanjit Brar in instigating hatred against Kler following which Bhangu had issued a death threat to the SAD spokesperson. They said it was Brar who had admitted that the rebel group was holding regular meetings in the Mandi Board office.

Later while talking to newsmen, Dr Daljit Cheema said the incident was a direct result of the collusion between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and radical elements with the aim of rendering the SAD leaderless. He also asked Agriculture minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian to explain why the latter was allowing the Mandi Board office to hatch conspiracies against the SAD.

The SAD delegation also announced that it would meet Governor Gulab Chand Kataria under the leadership of Mr Balwinder Singh Bhundar and Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal shortly and apprise him of the incident and demand a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the same. “We will also approach the high court”, the delegation members added.

On his part, Mr Arshdeep Kler said he was not afraid of such threats and would face them resolutely. He also reiterated that meetings aimed at causing harm to the SAD and its leadership were being held at the Mandi Board regularly and asked the AAP government to explain why it was allowing government offices to be used for this purpose.
