The Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) has achieved a significant milestone in its pursuit of academic and research excellence by securing the 67th rank among Indian academic institutions in the prestigious Nature Index Institutions Tables, published by the renowned journal Nature. The university has also attained an overall rank of 84 among all institutions in India based on research output.
The Nature Index Institutions Tables evaluate the research performance of higher education institutions (HEIs) in India, including premier institutes like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
This index highlights top-performing institutions worldwide by tracking research publications in internationally reputed journals in the natural and health sciences for the calendar year 2024.
Notably, CU Punjab has been ranked among the Top 75 academic institutions in the Nature Index 2024 Research Leaders Rankings, further reflecting its growing impact and excellence in scientific research.
Expressing his delight over this achievement, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of CU Punjab, stated, “Securing the 67th position among India’s academic institutions in the Nature Index Institutions Tables is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our faculty, researchers, and students.
This recognition underscores our commitment to fostering a robust research ecosystem and contributing to global scientific advancements.” He dedicated this achievement to the university’s researchers and faculty members.
Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director of IQAC, highlighted that CU Punjab continues to make remarkable progress on an international scale by publishing high-quality research work in reputed international journals.
The university is dedicated to addressing social issues and has formulated focused research groups for developing innovative, low-cost solutions on health, agriculture, and the environment to support the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. She emphasized that under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, CU Punjab is making significant strides in the field of research, contributing meaningfully to the nation’s development.
